The difference between radar Doppler flowmeters and ultrasonic Doppler flowmeters
Doppler flow meters operate on the ultrasonic Doppler principle and, depending on the application, may also be referred to as river flow meters, agricultural irrigation flow meters, sewer flow meters, or open-channel flow meters. They are primarily used for downstream flow monitoring in reservoirs, municipal pipeline networks, municipal wastewater monitoring, irrigation water‑intake monitoring, and river and lake flow monitoring. Doppler ultrasonic flow meters have replaced traditional ultrasonic open‑channel flow meters, enabling more accurate measurements of water level, flow velocity, water temperature, instantaneous flow rate, overflow area, and cumulative flow.
