Electronic water level gauges operate in three distinct modes: empty‑height mode, submerged‑water mode, and tilt‑angle mode. In empty‑height mode, the water level reading is calculated as the gauge’s total length minus the water level plus a reference value. In submerged‑water mode, the reading equals the water level plus the reference value. In tilt‑angle mode, the reading is obtained by multiplying the water level by the corresponding angle and then adding the reference value. The gauge’s internal components are made from highly sealed materials and undergo special treatment to maintain a hermetic seal, protecting the device from corrosive liquids, sludge, contaminants, sediments, and other impurities. As a result, it is well suited for monitoring water levels in reservoirs, lakes, rivers, hydropower stations, irrigation projects, as well as in municipal water supply and urban wastewater treatment systems.

The electronic water level gauge can be installed vertically. Depending on the specific site conditions, sensor segments of different specifications can be combined to achieve the desired length, and then connected into a single integrated sensor using U‑shaped connectors. In this case, the measurement length must be converted to account for the inclined mounting, which improves accuracy because the measurement is taken along the height.
