What is the maximum temperature that a high-temperature ultrasonic level transmitter can withstand?
With the onset of the plum rain season, hot weather is on the way. Temperatures above 24°C are typically classified as high, but nowadays outdoor temperatures exceeding 30°C have become commonplace. As the dog days of summer arrive, many customers who use outdoor ultrasonic level transmitters have been inquiring whether they should make a purchase.
Ultrasonic level transmitters are non-contact instruments typically used to measure the liquid level in sewage tanks, ordinary water tanks, and other fluid-filled vessels. Because the measurements involve water, reliability is generally high, so some users opt for radar level transmitters when ambient temperatures are excessively high or when direct measurement is required. However, the higher cost of radar devices makes them a less attractive choice for many.
The standard probe of an ultrasonic level transmitter is rated for ambient temperatures between –20°C and 80°C, while the high‑temperature version can operate at ambient temperatures from –20°C to 100°C. Within these ranges, ultrasonic level transmitters can reliably measure conditions around the probe, helping to reduce costs.
